How Do Regenerative Endodontic Procedures Work for Immature Necrotic Teeth?

Abstract

Treating an immature tooth with necrotic pulp has been a real challenge for dentists. Large immature canals without physiologic apical closure are difficult to debride, and restoring immature teeth with thin dentin walls is a challenge due to the tooth’s susceptibility to cervical root fracture. The majority of human case studies have shown good clinical outcomes such as the absence of clinical signs and symptoms, radiographic evidence of resolution of periapical infections, continued root development, and increased canal wall thickness for immature permanent teeth with pulpal necrosis following regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs). Furthermore, REPs have the potential to heal a necrotic pulp and restore functionality. This review compiles information on the principles and clinical protocols of REPs as well as their outcomes.

Oral Pyogenic Granuloma: Case Report of an Atypical Presentation

Abstract “Granulomas seem to be a defensive mechanism that triggers the body to “wall off” foreign invaders such as bacteria or fungi to keep them from spreading” [1]. Pyogenic granuloma is a relatively common benign skin growth that consists of vascular nodules of proliferating capillaries [2]. They grow rapidly and often occur following a minor injury or trauma, most likely as a vascular or fibrous response to injury or irritant [2]. Ultimately, the etiology of pyogenic granuloma is still unknown. Oral pyogenic granuloma is most commonly found on the gingiva, followed by the lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, and hard palate [3]. Hepatitis B Virus among Dental Clinic Workers and the Risk Factors Contributing for its Infection

Abstract Objectives:  Dental clinic workers (DCWs) in Yemen have an additional risk of getting infected with HBV from their workplace and till now they are not routinely vaccinated against HBV infection. This study aimed to estimate prevalence of hepatitis B virus infection and associated risk factors among DCW in selected dental clinics in Sana’a city. Study design:  Data were acquired from a cross sectional survey conducted among DCWs in 2014 at the Faculty of Dentistry, Sana’a University, in Sana’a city. A proportionate to size random sample was drawn per DCW category. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data about socio-demographic characteristics and risk factors.
